![]() Like I mentioned, playing with Haliburton gives you free and easy shots. The only way for Indy to acquire players, much like the Raps, is to trade for them and hold their bird rights. Indy would need to renounce a few of their current starters just to be able to free up room to sign one of Pascal or GTJ, and what are the chances either of them choose Indy over another location. If their star is asking for help, that might be just enough leverage to squeeze Mathurin out of Indy.Īlso, while they are expiring contracts, the ability for teams to sign them, without trading for them is limited. My hope is that Hali is exerting pressure on Indy's FO to get him a 2nd option now. "They didn't get fair offers, that's they let Siakam walk" I guess it's easier to make excuses for the FO when you are expecting Keegan Murry and multiple 1st rounders. I agree with you on people's expectations. Someone is leaving, even if it's the fans.Ĭonsensus seems to be growing that OG will be more sought after, Imagine having this exact same team next season with no first rounder lol. I'd be surprised if either are traded at all. Not sure Siakam is even valued higher than OG at this stage. I wouldn't be surprised if the best players offered are bench players and a later first rounder. I'm looking at these trade proposals and scoffing at what people seem to think we'll get for two expiring contracts on a bad team who both have major flaws to their game. Then OG will leave in free agency to either the Pacers or the Sixers and we'll sign Siakam to the max. I imagine Masai might still ask, Indiana will likely refuse to add Mathurin to the deal at which point Masai or Bobby will do a presser and tell us there were no good offers on the table, we like our guys, we're building something amazing, Porter is our deadline acquisition blah blah blah the usual. Rapsfan07 wrote:Not really interested in picks when we could have had known commodities. This deal would leave Indy with a relatively young rotation of players: Something else is up with him.Īnd for Indy, if they are going to invest close to $20M in a SG, would you rather invest that into a player heading into his prime years (GTJ 25 yrs old) or a player heading out of his prime years (Hield 31 yrs old)? Players don't generally fall off a cliff in their production at age 24/25. While GTJ has been horrible this year (which will help suppress his contract demands), I think long term, his production should probably be closer to his play from the previous 2 seasons. Indy needs more size on the wing/forward positions, and they are getting 2 for 3. Mind you, it's only one game and it was against the Pistons lol so there's that. ![]() I mean, someone will take a chance on him I think but in what capacity, right?Īnyway, after that breakout game, I'd be surprised if they're even willing to have talks around him. He's definitely younger than Hield or Brown but I'd imagine they want guys who can actually play and I'm not sure of Trent's career after this contract tbh. Not to mention that GTJ has been worse than all 3 of the players they'd be sending out in the process, plus they'd have to pay him in the summer. ![]() The problem with this is they'd be trading 3 of their best wings and only getting one back. ![]() GTJ is a younger volume shooter, with possibly a bit better D. For Indy, better to invest in GTJ than Hield, if Hield’s demands are too rich. Indy will have no problem maxing Pascal, and can give GTJ something close to what he is earning now. I could see a deal of Pascal & GTJ for Mathurin, Hield and Brown (2 expiring deals). Probably the reason Mathurin is coming off the bench. Mathurin is too ball dominant, which doesn’t work when he is playing beside Hali. JB7 wrote:Problem for Indy is Mathurin doesn’t seem to be the right fit beside Hali.
